Darebin Paid Hard Waste Collection

Residents are entitled to one free booked collection of 2 cubic metres per financial year. If you have used your free collection, you can book a paid collection by using the form below.

IMPORTANT - only book an additional paid booking below if you have already used your one free booked collection this financial year.

Your additional paid hard waste collection entitlement is 2 cubic metres – 2 metres long x 1 metre high x 1 metre wide.



Only acceptable items will be collected.

Unacceptable items will NOT be collected. These items will be left on the nature strip, and it will be your responsibility to remove these items and appropriately dispose of within 24 hours - please check the listing of what will and will not be collected.

Do not place any waste out until your booking is confirmed.

Items placed on the nature strip without a booking are considered as illegal dumping and may result in a fine.

Do not leave any items of value near hard waste piles as these will be deemed as hard waste and if taken, no compensation will be given.

 

Hard rubbish collections can be booked at a cost of $82.30 per collection; plus $29.80 each for mattresses, $21.80 for soft furniture, $33.20 for fridges/air conditioners and $16.60 for car tyres. Collections are to be paid at the time of booking using the below booking portal.

PLEASE NOTE - Booked collections can take place any day during your collection week, the cut-off to book for the following week is Tuesday at 11:59pm AEST or when we have run out of capacity for the week.

IMPORTANT - If you would like a mattress, soft furniture (couch/sofa etc.), fridge/air conditioner or car tyres included in your hard waste collection, you will need to include it and pay for it with your booking. If these items aren't booked for, they won't be collected with your hard waste collection.
 

IMPORTANT: It is recommended residents take a photo of their hard waste pile once placed on the nature strip, prior to collection occurring. This will be used as evidence to assist Council if illegal dumping occurs.

You should receive a confirmation email immediately after booking outlining your collection week, when and where to place out the waste, the acceptable and unacceptable waste and the amount of waste that can be placed out.

Booking instructions

  • Bookings will be confirmed by email directly after booking is placed. A confirmation SMS will be sent the Friday before your collection is booked to take place.
  • Mattresses, soft furniture (couches, sofa etc.), fridges/air conditioners and car tyres  must be booked with your collection, or they will not be collected
  • Neatly place items on the nature strip the weekend before the collection week (by 6am Monday morning of your collection week). Do not place items on your nature strip any earlier.
  • Items should be no heavier than two people can lift, and less than 1.5m in length.
  • Hard waste piles exceeding 2 cubic metres in size WILL NOT be collected, please refer to brochure for more information.
  • Residents are responsible for removing any material not collected by the contractor within 24 hours of collection.

When do I put my waste out?

  • Neatly place items on the nature strip the weekend before the collection week (by 6am Monday morning of your collection week)
  • Do not put items out on your nature strip without booking.

What Items can I put out ?
We will COLLECT

  • Mattresses (if paid for)
  • Soft furniture (couch/sofa etc.) (if paid for)
  • Fridges/air conditioners (if paid for)
  • Tyres (Car tyres only – maximum of four (4) per collection) (if paid for)
  • Household (boxed miscellaneous) 
  • Household furniture (chair, table etc) 
  • Scrap metal (1.5 meters length) 
  • E-waste (anything with a plug, cord or inbuilt batteries) 
  • Carpet and underlay (1.5 metres length) 
  • Sheet glass (up to 1.5m width) securely wrapped in either cardboard or bubble wrap and CLEARLY labelled Glass. Table tops need to be removed from their frame prior to wrapping
  • Timber (up to 10 pieces, no longer than 1.5 metres length)

Most materials collected will be recycled or reused where possible.

We will NOT COLLECT

  • Mattresses, soft furniture, fridges/air conditioners and car tyres (that haven't been paid for with the booking)
  • Building waste and renovation materials 
  • Concrete sheeting 
  • Gas bottles  
  • Tyres (4WD, truck and non car tyres)
  • Chemicals, oils or poisons 
  • Paint 
  • Household recycling and rubbish 
  • Bean bags, polystyrene and foam 
  • Hazardous waste including asbestos 
  • Commercial or industrial waste
  • Household batteries
