What Items can I put out ?
We will COLLECT
Most materials collected will be recycled where possible.
We will NOT COLLECT
*Please do not dismantle furniture into smaller pieces, this can then be classified as renovation/building material that can't be collected, try to leave as one whole stand-alone item where possible. However, if furniture is longer than 1.5 metres, it will need to be cut in half so that we can collect safely.
Items may be collected by multiple trucks. To save space and keep costs to a minimum, bulky items are compacted in the trucks. Most items are recycled or reused where possible. All items are taken to the Knox Transfer Station for sorting and recycling. Items that are reusable are sold at the Recycled Goods Store. For a short video on what happens to your waste, visit our contractor's website.
If your unwanted items are still usable or can be repaired, please find another way for them to be used again instead of placing them out for hard waste collection.
Reusing and repairing items helps keep valuable resources in circulation, supports the circular economy and reduces waste sent to landfill.
Hard waste collections are for items that cannot be reused or repaired. Where possible, hard waste items are recovered and recycled, including metals, household appliances, e-waste/electronics, tools and mattresses.
